Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Yoke collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when you use the Yoke iOS application and the Yoke website.
Yoke is operated by Aurélien Barot, operating Yoke (“Yoke”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, you can contact us at support@yokeapp.co.
1. Information We Collect
The information Yoke processes depends on the features you choose to use.
Account and authentication information
When you create or use a Yoke account, we may process information such as:
- your email address;
- your Yoke/Firebase account identifier;
- the authentication provider you use;
- information necessary to authenticate you through email, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google.
If you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, authentication is handled through those services and Firebase Authentication.
Yoke does not use Google Sign-In to access services such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or Google Contacts.
Profile and personalization information
You may choose to provide information that helps Yoke personalize your experience, including:
- preferred name;
- age;
- gender;
- height and weight;
- fitness goals;
- motivations;
- fitness level;
- body type;
- areas you want to focus on;
- injuries or physical limitations you choose to disclose;
- other sports or activities you practice;
- workout frequency;
- preferred workout duration and intensity;
- training environment and equipment;
- cardio and workout preferences;
- preferred units and other training settings.
Some of this information may qualify as health or fitness information under applicable law.
Where available and with your permission, certain profile information such as age, height, or weight may also be obtained from Apple Health.
Workout and training information
When you use Yoke to plan, perform, or track workouts, we may process information including:
- workout date and time;
- workout duration;
- exercises performed;
- muscle groups;
- sets;
- weight;
- repetitions or other exercise-specific metrics such as time or distance;
- completed sets and exercises;
- perceived effort;
- workout or exercise notes;
- workout templates;
- generated workouts and Today’s Suggestions;
- custom templates;
- saved gyms and equipment;
- favorite exercises;
- workout history and progress information.
This information is used to provide Yoke’s workout logging, personalization, progress, recovery, and training features.
App usage and analytics information
When you use Yoke, we may collect limited information about how you interact with the app, such as features viewed, onboarding progress, workout-related actions, and other in-app interactions.
We use this information to understand how Yoke is used, measure product performance, troubleshoot issues, and improve the app.
Apple Health and HealthKit information
If you choose to connect Yoke to Apple Health, you control which permissions you grant through Apple’s HealthKit permission system.
Depending on the permissions you grant and the activity involved, Yoke may access information such as:
- workout and activity type;
- workout start and end time;
- workout duration;
- distance;
- heart rate and heart-rate samples;
- step count;
- active and total energy;
- elevation gain;
- average speed;
- swimming stroke count;
- age, height, and weight where you choose to make them available;
- source application or device;
- workout route information for supported outdoor activities.
Yoke may use this information to display imported activities, calculate relevant training metrics, contribute to My Week and training history, estimate Muscle Freshness, calculate heart-rate zones, and provide a more complete view of your training.
Imported Apple Health workout and activity data is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to Firebase.
For outdoor activities, HealthKit route information may be read when needed to display a map. Route information is not uploaded by Yoke to Firebase. Local map previews may be cached on your device.
If you choose to import profile measurements such as age, height, or weight from Apple Health, those values may become part of your Yoke profile. Your Yoke profile may be synchronized with your Yoke account through Firebase.
Yoke may also, with your permission, save completed Yoke strength workouts to Apple Health.
Connecting Apple Health is optional. You can manage or revoke Yoke’s Health permissions through Apple’s system settings.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- create, authenticate, and manage your Yoke account;
- provide and maintain Yoke;
- save and synchronize your workouts and training settings;
- personalize workouts and training recommendations;
- generate Personalized Workouts and Today’s Suggestions;
- calculate and display Muscle Freshness and other fitness-related estimates;
- display training history, My Week, streaks, progress, trends, and workout recaps;
- integrate eligible Apple Health activities into your Yoke experience;
- manage Free and Yoke Pro feature access;
- apply Free feature allowances and usage limits;
- restore your Yoke data across supported sessions and devices where cloud synchronization is available;
- respond to support requests, bug reports, and feature requests;
- troubleshoot, secure, maintain, and improve Yoke;
- comply with applicable laws and protect our legal rights.
Yoke does not sell your personal information.
We do not use information obtained through Apple Health or HealthKit for advertising, targeted advertising, or data-broker purposes.
3. Apple Health and Health Data
Health and fitness information is particularly sensitive.
Yoke only accesses Apple Health data after you choose to grant the relevant permissions through Apple’s HealthKit authorization system.
HealthKit permissions are granular, which means you may allow access to certain categories of information while refusing others.
Yoke uses HealthKit information only to provide health and fitness functionality within Yoke, including activity history, progress, recovery-related features, fitness calculations, and workout personalization.
Yoke does not sell HealthKit information, use it for advertising, or provide it to advertising platforms or data brokers.
Imported Apple Health workout and activity data remains stored locally by Yoke on your device and is not synchronized to Firebase.
You can withdraw or modify Apple Health permissions at any time through Apple’s privacy and Health settings. Some Yoke features may become unavailable or less personalized if you remove access to information they require.
4. Yoke Pro and App Store Purchases
Yoke offers optional paid access to Yoke Pro through auto-renewable subscriptions purchased through Apple’s App Store.
Payments and billing are processed by Apple.
Yoke does not receive or store:
- your payment card number;
- your bank account information;
- your complete payment history;
- a persistent Apple transaction ID;
- a persistent original transaction ID;
- your payment card billing details.
Yoke uses Apple’s StoreKit system to determine whether your Apple Account currently has an active entitlement to Yoke Pro.
Yoke may temporarily process StoreKit transaction information in memory while verifying an entitlement. This transaction information is not persisted by Yoke.
Yoke stores a minimal local status indicating whether Yoke Pro was most recently active. This is used to avoid displaying an incorrect Free state while Apple resolves your current entitlement. Apple’s StoreKit entitlement information remains the source of truth.
Yoke does not currently associate Apple transaction identifiers with your Yoke/Firebase account.
Subscription purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and billing are managed by Apple under the terms applicable to your Apple Account.
5. Free Feature Access Information
Some Yoke features have different access levels for Free and Yoke Pro users.
To apply Free usage allowances, Yoke may store limited feature-access information, such as:
- an identifier for a relevant Yoke workout session;
- the type of Free access or credit used;
- when that access was used;
- the relevant usage period.
This information is functional Yoke data. It is not payment or banking information.
It is stored locally and, for signed-in users, may be synchronized with the user’s Yoke account through Firebase so that Yoke can consistently apply feature-access rules.
6. Sign in with Google
Yoke uses Sign in with Google only as an authentication method.
Yoke does not request custom Google API scopes and does not use Sign in with Google to access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or other unrelated Google services.
Authentication credentials provided during the Google sign-in process are used to establish your account session through Firebase Authentication.
Your email address associated with your Google account may be available through Firebase Authentication and may be used for account-related functionality and support.
Google account information obtained for authentication is not used by Yoke for advertising.
7. Sign in with Apple
If you choose Sign in with Apple, Yoke uses information supplied through Apple and Firebase Authentication to create or authenticate your Yoke account.
This may include your Apple authentication identifier and an email address made available by Apple, including an Apple private relay email address if you choose to hide your email.
Yoke does not request access to unrelated information from your Apple Account.
8. Support, Feedback, and Communications
If you contact us through Yoke or by email, submit a bug report, request a feature, or otherwise communicate with us, we may process:
- your contact information;
- the contents of your message;
- information you voluntarily include;
- optional screenshots, photos, or other attachments you choose to provide;
- limited technical information where necessary to investigate an issue.
We use this information to respond to you, provide support, fix problems, and improve Yoke.
If you delete your Yoke account and choose to tell us why you are leaving, Yoke may retain the feedback you voluntarily submit together with limited technical context such as the app version, iOS version, device model, and approximate age of the account.
Yoke does not attach your Yoke user ID to this account-deletion feedback.
Please avoid including unnecessary sensitive or identifying information in free-text feedback fields.
9. Where Your Information Is Stored
Yoke uses a combination of local device storage and cloud services.
On your device
Certain information is stored locally, including:
- imported Apple Health workouts and activities;
- certain temporary or cached application data;
- some local application settings;
- the local Yoke Pro entitlement cache.
Apple Health imported workout data is kept separate from Yoke’s cloud-synchronized workout data.
Firebase
Yoke uses Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, services provided by Google, to provide account authentication and synchronization.
Depending on how you use Yoke, information synchronized through Firebase may include:
- Yoke profile and personalization information;
- Yoke workout sessions and workout summaries;
- custom templates;
- favorites;
- saved gyms and equipment;
- preferences and settings;
- Free feature-access state.
Imported Apple Health workouts and activity histories are not uploaded to Firebase.
10. Service Providers and Sharing
We share personal information only when necessary to operate Yoke, provide a feature you request, comply with the law, or protect our rights.
The main third-party platforms involved in Yoke are:
Google / Firebase
Used for Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, cloud synchronization, and Sign in with Google.
Apple
Used for Sign in with Apple, HealthKit and Apple Health integration, App Store purchases, StoreKit subscription management, and other iOS system functionality.
Analytics providers
Used to measure how Yoke is used, understand which features are used, and improve the service.
These providers process information under their own applicable terms and privacy practices in addition to acting as service providers where applicable.
We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to:
- comply with a legal obligation or valid legal request;
- protect the security or integrity of Yoke;
- prevent fraud or abuse;
- protect our rights or the rights and safety of others;
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
11. Legal Bases for Processing
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) applies, we process personal data on one or more of the following legal bases.
Performance of our agreement with you
We process information that is necessary to provide the Yoke service you request, including account management, workout storage, personalization, cloud synchronization, and feature access.
Consent
Where required by applicable law, we rely on your consent to process health-related information and information you choose to make available through Apple Health.
You can withdraw HealthKit permissions through Apple’s settings. Where another processing activity relies on your consent, you may withdraw that consent by contacting us.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing that lawfully occurred before withdrawal.
Legitimate interests
We may process limited information where necessary for legitimate interests such as:
- maintaining and securing Yoke;
- preventing abuse;
- providing customer support;
- diagnosing technical problems;
- understanding bug reports and feature requests;
- improving the reliability and usability of Yoke;
- protecting our legal rights.
We consider your rights and interests when relying on this basis.
Legal obligations
We may process information when necessary to comply with applicable legal, regulatory, accounting, or other obligations.
12. Automated Personalization and Fitness Estimates
Yoke uses automated calculations and rules to provide features such as personalized workout generation, Today’s Suggestion, training progress, heart-rate zones, and Muscle Freshness.
These features may use information such as your training history, profile, preferences, completed workouts, and eligible activities imported from Apple Health.
They are intended to assist with fitness and training and do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning you.
Fitness and recovery estimates, including Muscle Freshness, are informational estimates and should be considered together with how you actually feel.
13. How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain account-related personal information for as long as your Yoke account remains active or for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service for which the information was collected.
When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete or de-identify it, subject to any legal obligations or legitimate need to retain limited records.
Imported Apple Health activities stored by Yoke remain on your device until they are removed locally, your Yoke account data is deleted, or the application data is otherwise removed.
Support messages, issue reports, feature requests, account-deletion feedback, and similar communications may be retained separately for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to requests, investigate issues, improve Yoke, maintain security, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.
14. Deleting Your Account
Yoke allows you to request account deletion directly from within the app.
When account deletion is successfully completed, Yoke deletes the principal data associated with your Yoke account from Firebase, including your synchronized profile, Yoke workout data, workout summaries, custom templates, preferences, favorites, gyms, and related account data.
Yoke also removes locally stored information associated with the deleted account, including Yoke’s local copies of imported Apple Health activities.
Deleting your Yoke account does not delete information stored independently by Apple Health. For example, workouts that have already been saved to Apple Health may remain there and can be managed through Apple’s Health functionality.
Deleting your Yoke account also does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription. App Store subscriptions must be managed through Apple.
Certain support communications, issue reports, feature requests, or feedback that are stored separately from the core Yoke account may be retained where reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
15. International Data Transfers
Some of the service providers used to operate Yoke, including Google and Apple, operate internationally.
As a result, personal information may be processed in countries outside the country in which you live, including outside the European Economic Area.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer of personal data, we rely on legally recognized mechanisms made available by our service providers, such as adequacy decisions or appropriate contractual safeguards.
16. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information.
Under the GDPR, these may include the right to:
- access personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of your personal data;
- request restriction of certain processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive certain personal data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.
For users in France, the competent supervisory authority is the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL).
To exercise your privacy rights, contact us at support@yokeapp.co.
We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
17. Children and Minors
Yoke is a fitness service and is not specifically designed or marketed for young children.
We do not intentionally seek personal information from children who cannot lawfully provide the necessary consent or authorization under the laws that apply to them.
Where applicable law requires authorization from a parent or legal guardian for a minor to use Yoke or provide particular personal information, that authorization should be obtained.
If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that a child has provided personal information to Yoke without the authorization required by applicable law, please contact us at support@yokeapp.co.
18. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
For example, Yoke limits the information synchronized to cloud services and keeps imported Apple Health workout and activity data locally on the user’s device.
However, no electronic storage, transmission, or information system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
19. The Yoke Website
This Privacy Policy also applies to the Yoke website.
The current Yoke website is primarily a static informational website. Yoke does not currently use advertising or behavioral-tracking technologies on the website.
Standard technical information may nevertheless be processed by infrastructure and hosting providers as necessary to deliver, protect, and operate the website.
If we later introduce analytics, cookies, advertising technologies, or other forms of tracking, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any choices or notices required by applicable law.
20. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Yoke, our practices, our service providers, or applicable law.
When we update it, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
If a change materially affects how we process your personal information, we will provide additional notice where required by applicable law.
